KHUREN KHANIIN KHETS

One of the mysterious and majestic mountains of the Gobi Desert is Khuren Khaniin Khets. It is located 56 km east of the center of Noyon sum of Umnugovi province and is a branch of Noyon Bogd Mountain. It looks like a crocodile's back from the height, but from the side, its unique structure looks like many triangles stacked on top of each other. The mountain has five rows of overlapping rock canyons. One of the valleys between the canyons is called the Sain Sariin Valley (Good Moon Valley). Tourists like to camp there because of its natural beauty and the beautiful mountain streams flows down. The spring is also known as the Moon Spring or Moon Eye Spring.


The mountains of Khuren Khaniin Khets are majestically dark brown, and there is even a breed of camels named after these majestic mountains. The brown camels of Khaniin Hets are considered to have a high meat yield with relatively large mass, well adapted in the cold winter, and suitable for riding and transportation. It is also valued for its finest wool and milk yield. 72.2 percent of Khaniin Khets brown camels are dark brown like the mountain color. Wild animals such as argali, ibex, leopard, and lynx live in Khuren Khaniin Khets Mountains. Around 10 species of medicinal plants and wild onions grow there.
