NARAN DAATS
It is placed 96 km northwest of the center of Gurvantes Sum and 400 km west of the provincial capital. Naran Daats is one of the main sources of fresh drinking water deep in the desert. A spring of fresh water gushes out from the top of one of the hills, which is common in Gobi Desert. The discharge rate of the spring reaches 5 liters per second. Following the Naran Daats spring, there grow Nitraria sibirica, Pall, Cynomoriom soongaricum Rupr, Rheum nanum Sievers, Zypophyllum Potanini Maxim, Zygophyllum Potaninii, Avhnatherum splendens Nevski, and Carex duriuscula etc,.
The mudstones and cliffs around the Naran Daats are sediments that formed during Upper Cretaceous date back tens of millions of years. Numerous species of dinosaurs and ancient plant and animal remains have been discovered and studied to this day. To the west of Narandaats, Khermen Tsav, known as the Grand Canyon of Mongolia, the beautiful oasis Zuunmod Zulganai, and Toson Bumba mountain range which home to many snow leopards are located.
Narandaat is the main base for long-distance trips to the western region of Umnogovi province, and to the neighboring provinces in the northwest, such as Bayankhongor and Gobi-Altai. The spring also provides one of the crucial places where foreign and domestic dinosaur researchers, biologists, and enthusiasts rely on its freshwater resources. Since the tourist camps were established in the region of Naran Daats, travelers and tourists began to visit this remote, beautiful, and unique nature.
