The Museum of Umnogovi Province, first founded in 1948, was opened newly on May 8, 2022, under the name "The Gobi Museum of Nature and History". The museum was opened on "International Museum Day" within the framework of public-private cooperation in the new residential area of Dalanzadgad. More than 4,000 exhibits and artifacts were exhibited in halls equipped with world-standard museum decoration and equipment. The exhibitions include ancient paleontological artifacts found in places such as Tsakhiurt Valley, Otson-Maanit, Bayanzag, Chono Shurguul, and Togrogiin Shiree, where people lived 5,000-4,500 years ago. In the museum, it can be also found interesting and unique works of famous artisans and craftsmen of the Gobi region. Moreover, it offers an opportunity to know more about one of the nine wonders of Umnogov Province, the unique designs of "Noyon Sevrein Craftsmanship", with its silver cups, ornaments, utensils, religious items, idols, and musical instruments. Besides these crafts, there are also Paleolithic and Bronze age tools and Iron age artifacts are exhibited.


The newly established museum was built with MNT10.9 billion from the Gobi Oyu Development Support Fund of Oyu Tolgoi. In addition to the main exhibition halls of "Dinosaurs - Gobi nature", "geology and minerals", "archaeology", "religion", "history", and "cultural heritage", the museum has a cinema hall with 200 seats and an educational room.


The museum is closed on Monday and is open from 09:00 to 17:30 on Tuesday to Friday, and from 10:00 to 17:30 on Saturday and Sunday.
